Kurt H. Jones, Your Future Associate Attorney.
Immediately upon graduating from Pace University’s Elisabeth Haub School of Law, during the pandemic, I relocated to Houston from New York. I took and passed the New York State Bar and am currently registered for the February 2022 Texas Bar exam.
Prior to attending law school, I worked as a teacher and as a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., I served the community. I believe in, and have worked towards, the advancement of rights for all communities without regard to any of the labels of society.
For twelve years, I worked to create strong partnerships with schools and adolescents throughout New York City to improve student success, faculty progress and positive community outreach and development. As an advocate, I have collaborated with various agencies, to help make a positive difference in the lives of all of my students both in and out of the school building. This involved cooperation with state and local agencies, counselors, teachers, and parents to create positive solutions to real world situations that may prevent young people from attaining their goals.
I am especially committed to advocating on behalf of those whose interests, my experience has taught me, are all too often overlooked. Using the knowledge gained in my studies at the State Univ. of New York at Albany, where I earned my B.A. and Brooklyn College, where I added a M.A. in Education, I dedicated more than a decade towards the education and growth of countless students. As a teacher I facilitated programs improving the well-being of young people by providing role models to support young people both academically and socially.
I have collaborated with various entities, and caregivers to develop relationships with young people providing support, guidance, teach life skills and positive problem solving skills.
As a law student I have had the privilege of advocating on behalf of jeopardized young people and improving their daily lives while serving as a Family Court Legal Services intern with the Administration for Children Services. I presented my arguments before judges in moot court competition, placing second in my class, in mock trial competitions, winning first place twice in the Regional competition and representing my school on the National stage.
As a New York attorney, in Houston, I have been a presenter in Texas Modern CLE webinars on topics:
My communication skills along with my experience managing academic systems, coupled with my ability to think and write analytically are but a fraction of the skills that I believe will enable me to make substantial and beneficial contributions as a member of your team.
